Liliana tried to look as dignified as possible. Which was not very dignified, considering she was half submerged in water. Liliana clutched her bathing cover to her chest, grateful for the Antarai custom of bathing modestly.
She waded to the edge of the water, taking the hand of a guard as he offered his help. Someone placed a warm blanket over her shoulders, for which Liliana was immensely grateful. It really was chilly.
âIs she all right?â Liliana heard a rustling in the trees and Prince Landry, accompanied by Prince Alex and Princess Celine, emerged. Trailing behind her was Prince Landryâs mysterious companion, looking put out at the inconvenience.
âOh, you poor thing. That must have been terrifying.â Princess Celine rushed to Lilianaâs side. âDonât worry, youâre safe now.â Celine turned to her female companion, âSophie, have you got the extra cloak? Would you be a dear and fetch it from the carriage?â
Sophie huffed, but didnât argue, turning to do Celineâs bidding. Liliana was stunned into shy silence. Princess Celine, epitome of everything beautiful and brave, was here. In person. Speaking to Liliana, helping her.
âOh dear, you canât walk to the carriage like this. You need shoes,â Celine tutted over her purple toes. âCan someone get something for her feet, please?â
âNo need,â a deep voice answered. âIâll take care of it.â She was swept up in a pair of muscular arms and held against a hard chest.
âOh, I can walk,â Liliana protested, before looking into a pair of mesmerising green eyes. Prince Landry smiled down at her, showing a dimple in his right cheek.
âWe wouldnât want you to cut your feet on those sharp rocks.â Landry tightened his grip.
Liliana relaxed; he was so warm. It wouldnât hurt to let him carry her to the carriage. After all, she couldnât argue with royalty.
Landry set Liliana down in Celineâs carriage, where Sophie was waiting. Sophie smiled warmly at Prince Landry before giving Liliana a disdainful look.
âI donât really use the carriage much.â Celine wrinkled her nose. âI like to ride where I can see everything. But Sophie or Louisa will get you something to wear. I think weâre the same size.â Celine gave Liliana an appraising look.
